Plumbing across the eight villages
Franklin Township covers a lot of ground, from the busy Somerset section near New Brunswick to the farmland around Griggstown and Kingston. Plumbing Doctor is based in the township, so most of it is a short drive.
A township that kept growing
Franklin went from under 10,000 people in 1950 to more than 68,000 in 2020, and it built in waves. The median home in the township dates from 1986, with about a third built before 1980. That mix means we see both sides: older homes with worn drain lines and valves, and newer homes where the first water heater, the original sump pump or the builder-grade fixtures are reaching the end of their life.
Near the Millstone
The Millstone River and the Delaware and Raritan Canal run along the township's western edge. During Ida in 2021 the Millstone came close to its historic levels and the Griggstown and Blackwells Mills causeways flooded. If you live near the river or the canal, test your sump pump every spring and consider a battery backup for when the power goes out in a storm.
Water and sewer
Franklin runs its own water utility, which buys water from New Jersey American Water, New Brunswick and North Brunswick. Sewer service comes from the Franklin Township Sewerage Authority. Inside your property line the pipes are yours, and that's the part we work on.
