Test it before you need it
Sump pumps sit unused for months and then have to work all at once in a storm. That's when a stuck float or a dead motor shows up. Once a year, before spring rains, pour a bucket of water into the pit and watch the pump start and empty it. If it doesn't, call before the next storm instead of during it.
Battery backup pumps
Storms that flood basements often knock out power too. A battery backup pump sits next to the main pump and takes over automatically when the power goes out or the main pump fails. For a finished basement, it's cheap insurance.
Pump replacement
When a pump is worn out we replace it with one sized for your pit and how much water it handles. We check the check valve and the discharge line at the same time, because a new pump on a bad discharge line still leaves you with water in the basement.
